You can cross this tweeter at 2.5 kHz. Most one-inch domes want to be crossed higher — at 3, 3.5, sometimes 4 kilohertz — because their free-air resonance sits high enough that they’re working too close to it below that. The midrange below then has to strain up into its top octave to meet the tweeter, and the crossover region starts to sound like two drivers stitched together. If you’ve ever noticed a hardness in vocals around the top of the mid’s range, that’s usually where it lives. 

The CVEN1ST’s free-air resonance is 298 hertz. That’s unusually low for a one-inch dome, and it’s the reason we can specify a 2.5 kHz crossover point without asking the tweeter to work anywhere near its limits. The mid gets to hand off before it starts stressing. The transition stops being audible. 

Beyond that, the CVEN1ST is a textbook high-end tweeter: hand-coated silk dome, N42 neodymium motor, DuPont Kapton voice-coil former, cast aluminium chassis, aluminium voice-coil former under the winding for heat dissipation. What matters is that we specified it to work with a specific midrange — the CVEN3SM below it — not to be a generic tweeter that might work with anything.
