The BA12D2S-V3 completes the BlackAir flat series — the 12″, and the one that goes deepest. It fits in 83 mm of depth, which is remarkable for a 12″, and it uses that big cone the way a flat sub should: to move a lot of air and reach genuinely low, down to 22 Hz.
Like the rest of the flat range it’s a dual 2-ohm design that wires to any amp, with a proper 12″ cone — 452 cm² of it — and 300 watts of power handling. Where the flat 8″ and 10″ are about fitting bass into ever-tighter spaces, this one is about getting the deepest, biggest bass a flat frame can give.
It’s still a flat sub, and it earns its low end through cone area rather than long excursion. Here’s how that works.

The biggest flat cone
A full 452 cm² 12″ cone in 83 mm of depth moves serious air.
Output comes down to how much air a sub moves, and this cone has a lot of area to move it with — 452 cm², the most in the flat range and roughly double the flat 8″. In just 83 mm of mounting depth, that’s a remarkable amount of cone for the space. It’s the flat sub for when you want real, room-filling bass and have the width for a 12″, even if you have almost no depth.
It reaches genuinely deep
A 26 Hz resonance takes it down to 22 Hz — as low as many full-depth subs.
The big cone gives it a low natural resonance — 26 Hz — and a stated response reaching down to 22 Hz. That’s proper sub-bass territory, the low end you feel through the car rather than just hear, and it’s deeper than plenty of conventional subs manage, let alone flat ones. This is the flat sub that doesn’t give up the bottom octave to save depth.
Area, not excursion
It makes its output from cone area, which is how a flat sub stays flat.
A flat sub can’t have the long throw of a deep one — there simply isn’t room behind the cone — and this one moves about 6 mm each way. So instead of chasing excursion, it leans on cone area: a big 12″ diaphragm moving a moderate distance shifts as much air as a smaller cone moving much further. That’s the trick to a flat sub that still hits, and it’s why we went to a full 12″ here rather than pushing a smaller driver harder.
Wire it to any amp
A dual 2-ohm voice coil matches whatever amplifier you run.
Two 2-ohm coils give you a 1-ohm mono load in parallel, a 4-ohm mono load in series, or independent connection across two channels — so it suits just about any monoblock or bridged amp, with the 1-ohm option there for the current-hungry ones.
A big coil, a box, and how it fits
A 3-inch coil handles the power; a sealed or free-air mount handles the fitment.
The voice coil is a 3-inch, four-layer copper winding on an aluminium former — the biggest coil in the flat series, for power handling and for shedding heat under 300 watts. As for the box: its equivalent volume (Vas) is 47.6 litres, so it wants a bit more air behind it than the smaller flats, but its total Q keeps it flexible — happy in a sealed enclosure, or run free-air firing into the boot from a shallow mount. It drops into a 269 mm cut-out at 83 mm deep, on a steel basket with push terminals.
