We built the CVEN3CN around one idea: the highs and the mids should come from the same place. 

On most speakers they don’t. The tweeter sits in one spot and the midrange driver sits in another, and if you listen closely you can hear the join — the treble seems to arrive from slightly the wrong direction. So we put the tweeter in the middle of the cone, right where the dust cap would normally go. One driver. One mounting hole. One point the sound actually leaves from. 

It’s a 3-inch driver, so it goes where bigger speakers can’t — a door, a dash, an A-pillar, the tight corner of a compact install. And it covers 130 Hz up to 20 kHz, which is the mid-and-treble range of a proper front stage. It doesn’t do deep bass, and it isn’t meant to. You hand off to a midbass below it, and a sub below that. This is the top end of the system, and it’s the part your ears use to place everything in the room.

Everything arrives from one place 

A concentric design gives you a two-way speaker that behaves like a single point source. 

The tweeter is mounted at the acoustic centre of the cone — the same axis the midrange radiates from — which is why there’s no dust cap on the spec sheet: the tweeter is what sits there instead. Because both sit on one axis, the highs and mids stay aligned and the stereo image locks to a single spot rather than smearing across two driver locations. There’s a practical upside too. It’s one hole to cut and one component to wire, not a separate tweeter to find a home for and a crossover to hide. 

It fits where other speakers won’t 

A 75 mm mounting diameter and 42.45 mm of depth is small enough for the awkward spaces. 

Factory door pods, shallow dash locations, pillar mounts, kick panels — the places a 6.5″ won’t physically go. If you’re building a compact or a multi-driver install and you’re short of depth, this is the driver that still fits when the others have to be cut around. 

A strong motor in a small, light package 

We used neodymium, not ferrite, so the motor stays powerful without adding bulk. 

Behind the cone is an N42 neodymium magnet weighing just 27.1 grams. Neodymium holds far more magnetic energy per gram than the ferrite you’d find on a cheaper driver, so we get the gap flux this motor needs — a 3.395 T·m force factor — while keeping the whole assembly light and shallow. In a 3″ driver that has to live in a shallow door or a slim pillar, weight and depth are the whole game, and neodymium is how you win it. 

It handles heat like a bigger driver 

We wound the coil on an aluminium former so heat has somewhere to go. 

The same principle we use across the range: a paper or plastic former traps heat in the windings until the coil starts to compress and the sound goes flat. Aluminium conducts that heat straight out into the motor structure the moment it’s made. For a small driver working hard over a long listen, that’s the difference between output that holds steady and output that quietly fades as the coil warms up. 

Proper specs for a proper front stage 

60 watts RMS. 85 dB sensitivity. 130 Hz to 20 kHz, clean. 

It sits as the mid-and-high of an active multi-way system and hands off naturally to a midbass beneath it. The terminals are gold-plated on a fibreglass board — a small thing, but it’s the connection that either stays solid for years or corrodes and crackles — and an EVA gasket seals it properly against the mounting surface. Nothing exotic. Just the details done right on the parts that decide whether it still sounds good in three years.
