We call it a midbass rather than a “mid-woofer” because it does one job. It covers the band between the subwoofer and the midrange, and that’s it. It doesn’t have to reproduce vocals. It doesn’t have to compensate for a missing dedicated mid. That’s a genuine advantage, and it lets us specify the driver very differently from a generic 6.5-inch that has to do everything.
The motor is 17 ounces of Y35 ferrite. Bigger than the neodymium equivalent, chosen deliberately — ferrite has better long-term thermal stability under sustained output, and the midbass is the driver in a component set that sees the most sustained current. The voice-coil former is aluminium, chosen for the same reason: aluminium conducts heat away from the winding faster than paper or plastic formers, so the driver’s tonal character doesn’t shift as it warms up.
The spider is DuPont aramid, matching the CVEN3SM above. The cone is long-fibre pressed paper, damped to break up gently rather than resonantly. The chassis is cast aluminium, matching the rest of the range.

CAST ALUMINIUM CHASSIS
Engineered silence. Resonance-free.
Stamped baskets ring. Pressure-cast aluminium does not. The CVEN6SW’s chassis is precision-cast from a single billet of marine-grade aluminium, machined to tolerances measured in hundredths of a millimetre. The result is a structurally inert platform that allows the motor to do
exactly what it was designed to do — move the cone, and absolutely nothing else. No microphonics. No basket flex under sustained excursion. Just a dead-quiet stage on which the music can speak.
THE 17OZ MAGNET MOTOR
Authority you can feel.
At the heart of every CVEN6SW sits a hand-bonded Y35 ferrite motor weighing a substantial 17 ounces — a deliberately oversized magnetic structure that delivers the kind of relentless cone control that smaller drivers can only suggest. The 100mm magnet feeds a precision-cut top plate and pole piece, generating an exceptionally uniform field in the gap. The benefit is heard not in volume, but in restraint — kick drums that start cleanly and stop cleanly, bass guitars that articulate every fingered note rather than smearing them into mud.
ALUMINIUM VOICE COIL FORMER
Heat is the enemy. We’ve designed it out.
While lesser drivers settle for paper or polyimide formers, the CVEN6SW uses an aerospace-grade aluminium former that conducts thermal energy away from the windings the moment it is generated. The benefit is twofold: the driver maintains its tonal character under sustained loud-listening — no compression, no thermal sag — and the 150W RMS power handling is delivered cleanly across long sessions rather than fading after the first chorus. Two-layer copper windings, 12mm tall, complete a motor designed to play, and keep playing.
DUPONT ARAMID SPIDER
Suspension that remembers its shape.
Cone control begins and ends with the spider. The CVEN6SW uses a 108mm spider hand-tensioned from DuPont aramid — the same family of materials trusted in motorsport firewalls and ballistic protection. It is heat-stable to temperatures conventional cotton-phenolic spiders cannot approach, fatigue-resistant across millions of cycles, and progressive in its compliance. Whether the driver is whispering a vocal line or moving real air on a film-score kick, the suspension returns the cone to centre with the same precision, song after song, year after year.
