The CVEN8WN is the foundation of the range — the big driver that does the heavy lifting. It’s an 8″ that reaches genuinely low, down to around 36 Hz, and carries all the way up to 4 kHz, so it covers the bass and the midbass from a single cone.
In a lot of installs that means you don’t need a separate subwoofer and a separate midbass — this one driver does both, and hands off to a midrange or tweeter above it. In a bigger, fully active system it’s the dedicated woofer that sits beneath everything else and gives the whole thing its bottom end.
It takes 120 watts RMS, and it’s built to take it: a four-layer copper coil, an aluminium former, and a neodymium motor. This is where the weight of the sound comes from.

It reaches genuinely low
A 37 Hz resonance means real bass from an 8″, not just midbass.
Plenty of 8″ drivers are really midbass units that run out of puff before the bottom octave. This one has a free-air resonance of 37.3 Hz and a stated response from 36 Hz, so it digs into proper low-bass territory. Its total Q of 0.8 also means it’s happy in a sealed box or on an infinite baffle without needing a large enclosure — useful when you’re building into a boot, a door or a custom baffle rather than a big ported cabinet.
A four-layer coil for grip on a big cone
More copper in the magnetic gap means tighter control of a heavier cone.
We wound this coil in four layers of copper — the same premium approach we use on our BAMIT6 subwoofer — rather than the two layers you’d find on a cheaper driver. The extra copper concentrates more of the winding in the gap, which gives the motor a firmer hold on a larger, heavier 8″ cone. You hear that as bass that starts and stops when the signal does: defined and tight, rather than loose and wallowing.
A neodymium motor without the bulk
We used neodymium so the motor stays compact behind a big cone.
Behind the cone is an N38 neodymium magnet, not a large ferrite slug. Neodymium gives us the gap flux an 8″ needs while keeping the motor small and the driver down to 60 mm of depth — a ferrite motor of similar strength would be a heavy lump hanging off the back. On a big driver that has to fit real installs, that saved depth and weight matter.
Built to take 120 watts
We wound the coil on an aluminium former so it can shed the heat.
Handling sustained power is a thermal problem before it’s anything else. The aluminium former pulls heat out of the windings and into the motor structure the moment it’s made, instead of letting it build until the coil compresses and the bass goes soft. Paired with the low reach, that’s what keeps the bottom end firm through a long, loud session rather than fading as the driver warms up.
One driver, bass and midbass
A 36 Hz to 4 kHz span lets it work as a woofer or a dedicated midbass.
That wide range is what makes it flexible. Run it full-range as the woofer in a two-way with a tweeter above, and one driver covers everything from the bottom to the crossover. Or use it as the dedicated bass-and-midbass in a full active system, below a midrange and tweeter. Either way it’s the driver the rest of the system is built on top of.
The build
A 183 mm cut-out, 60 mm depth, and the details done properly.
Paper cone and paper dust cap, a rubber surround, and an EVA gasket to seal it to the baffle. Gold-plated terminals keep the connection solid over the years. It’s a straightforward, honest 8″ build — nothing exotic, just the right materials in the right places for a driver that has to move a lot of air for a long time.
