Saturday: EMMA UK National Finals
On Saturday, we were honoured to host the EMMA (European Mobile Media Association) UK National Finals—the UK’s premier car audio championship, where competitors from across the country gathered to determine who built the best-sounding mobile audio systems.
For those unfamiliar with EMMA competitions, these aren’t simply “loudest bass” contests. EMMA judges evaluate two critical elements: installation quality and sound quality. Installation judging examines craftsmanship, safety (proper fusing, wire protection, secure mounting), and design execution. Sound quality judging assesses how accurately a system reproduces music by measuring imaging characteristics (can you pinpoint exactly where each instrument sits on the “sound stage”?), tonal accuracy across the frequency spectrum, and overall listening pleasure. Judges use standardised EMMA recordings and sit in the driver’s seat, evaluating everything from sub-bass extension to high-frequency clarity.
Competitors progress through categories from Entry level up to Expert Unlimited, with each tier demanding increasingly sophisticated installations and sound reproduction. It’s technical, it’s competitive, and it requires genuine expertise in both audio engineering and installation craftsmanship.
The atmosphere throughout Saturday was electric. Watching competitors meticulously prepare their systems, receiving detailed technical feedback from judges, and examining world-class installations up close by enthusiasts are all part of the experience. These moments showcase the remarkable talent and technical knowledge within the UK car audio community. Sunday: Dealer Training Day at Midbass Distribution
Following Saturday’s championship intensity, Sunday shifted focus to education as we welcomed our valued UK dealer network to Midbass Distribution for an in-depth training day. These events are fundamental to our partnership approach—ensuring dealers have comprehensive product knowledge and hands-on experience to deliver exceptional results for their customers.
New CVEN Interconnect Range: Engineering Without Compromise
The centrepiece of Sunday’s training was our all-new CVEN range, featuring a new set of RCA cables and speaker wire. These cables represent our commitment to signal integrity—each features triple-shielded construction (copper/aluminium shielding, aluminium foil, and spiral copper), eliminating electromagnetic interference that plagues in-car environments. Available in three lengths (1M, 3M, 5.5M).
The real innovation? Our CVENRCAY Y-lead splitter with interchangeable male/female RCA adapters provides installers unprecedented flexibility for complex system configurations. Industry-leading strain relief ensures durability under automotive conditions—vibration, temperature fluctuation, and physical stress.
Complementing the RCA range, our CVEN speaker cables offer four gauges (18AWG, 16AWG, 14AWG, 10AWG), all constructed from 100% OFC copper. From tweeters to high-powered woofers, proper cable selection ensures maximum power transfer and minimal signal degradation—critical when working with precision-engineered speakers.
CVEN Silver Range: Hand-Built Audiophile Excellence
Dealers experienced firsthand our CVEN Silver range, the latest addition to our now three-level CVEN speaker hierarchy (Red, Silver, Gold). These aren’t mass-produced; they’re hand-built by our speaker engineers with complete billet aluminium construction, eliminating basket resonance whilst providing exceptional strength. The CVEN1ST-V5 tweeter delivers 1kHz-25kHz response with an open-back design for natural sound, whilst the CVEN3SM-V5 midrange and CVEN6SW-V5 woofer complete the range with carbon fibre dustcaps and rubber surrounds engineered for accurate bass response and wide frequency bandwidth.
New CVEN Woofers: Musicality Meets Engineering
The CVEN69MW-V4 mid-woofer generated considerable excitement—and for good reason. This 6″x9″ driver achieves an extraordinary frequency response, playing down to 45Hz, meaning it handles deep bass up to higher midrange frequencies. The paper composite cone balances lightweight efficiency with rich tonal accuracy, whilst the complementary frequency response curve integrates seamlessly with CVEN tweeters for near-linear system response.
Our new 8″ CVEN Kickbass woofers address the growing demand for front-stage bass reproduction, delivering the punch and definition needed to create immersive soundstages with kick drums and bass guitars positioned where they belong—in front of the listener.
